Rules Overview
- If we haven't covered a rule, it could be down to one of three reasons:
- We felt it was so common sense that it didn't need mentioning.
- We felt it was too precise that we didn't want to get bogged down in trivial detail.
- Or, We missed something.
- Learn the rules. Make sure your team mates know the rules.
- Some of these rules are flexible, we do not want to see DQ's for stupid reasons. Leniency will be favoured whenever possible, but if you repeat the same mistake again, shame on you.
- Trying to find some way of bending a rule due to a grammatical mistake or something similar is lame.
- We won't tolerate trouble makers, you'll just be banned from GIT.
Disqualification Overview
Only an Admin can DQ a player.
If it is highlighted during the game, then the following are all DQ's on GIT (unless exceptional circumstances apply). Responsibility lies with team captains to avoid these circumstances.
- If a player does not have the required 30 games / 15 tourney games on their home ladder by the time they are called to play.
- If a player wins contrary to the wildcard rules, when playing a wildcard match.
- If a player does not provide an acceptable cam tape.
- If a player is banned for any reason. Such as failing to report a loss or an illegal league switch.
- DQ's do not count towards play-off eligibility.
Usernames / Accounts
- You are only allowed one account per player, if more than one account is detected, they will all be deleted.
- If their are multiple players from the same household, please make a GIT Admin aware of this before you sign up.
- Your GIT Username MUST contain your Leagues Initials before it.
- ie: If xCHRISx signs up for Magic Pool, his ID should read MP_xCHRISx.
- Your GIT Username MUST match your League Username, which MUST also match your Yahoo ID, with the only difference being League Initials.
- If you cannot sign up for any reason (ie: ID too long or illegal characters etc. make a GIT Admin aware of this, and sign up with a close approximation of your ID).
- Boosted Yahoo IDs are allowed.
- Intentionally deflated Yahoo IDs are not allowed.
- A player will not be DQ'd for an incorrect sign-up. They will have a grace period to amend the error. They will receive a warning and repeat offences may be dealt with more severely.
- League switching is only allowed if agreed by an Admin. No League switches will be permitted after Week 10.
Standard Eligibility
- Players MUST have a total of 30 games played on the ladder they wish to represent, 15 of which MUST be tournament games.
- If you withdraw from your home ladder, or reset your stats, then you must reach the eligibility requirements again.
- Provided you have the required number of games, you are eligible. GIT has no weekly eligibility requirements.
- It is the Team Captains responsibility (NOT the GIT Admin) to confirm that all players are eligible to play.
- If a player is found to be ineligible, it must be brought to GIT Admins attention immediately.
- Players proven to be ineligible to represent their ladder (beyond any reasonable doubt) will be DQ'd.
Standings
- The following order of priority will be used for determining the positions of teams on the GIT ladder.
- Most team wins over the whole season.
- Most individual wins over the whole season.
- Most team wins in matches between all of the teams level on rules 1 & 2.
- Most individual wins in matches between all of the teams level on rules 1 & 2.
- Least number of individual no-shows throughout the season.
- A deciding match may be required.
Wildcards
"It is our intention for this to be a fun addition, and to distinguish GIT from all of the other Interleagues out there."
GIT offers the Home Team the chance to use two Wildcards during every match.
- The Home Team Captain has at their disposal a BT8/Q Wildcard and a P8 Wildcard.
- The Home Team Captain may choose to use these wildcards in any game s/he wishes, but must declare it before the game starts.
- The Home Team Captain is entitled to use both wildcards in the same game, making it a BT8/Q P8 match.
- No-one besides the Home Team Captain can call the use of a Wildcard.
- As Home Team Captain, you do not have to use the Wildcards at all, its entirely up to you.
Psychic 8 Basics
- The 'home team player' MUST nominate an 8 ball pocket for both players before the break.
- The two players MUST have DIFFERENT 8 ball pockets. You cannot pot the ball into your opponents pocket.
- It is common sense that you should still nominate this pocket when playing the pot.
- If you forget that you are playing P8 and win the game illegally, you will lose on DQ.
- Deliberately ignoring these rules to win some points on yahoo is lame, you won't win the game for your team, and may face a ban from GIT.
- Re-racks are allowed if both players agree that a stalemate has been reached. However, if one player has earned a clear advantage (usually by placing the 8 Ball over his/her nominated pocket), then re-racks are not required.
Bank The 8/Q Basics
- Everyone knows what a legal bank is, if you don't, I'm certain your team-mates can help you out (Adjacent rail banks, regardless of difficulty, are not acceptable banks).
- You can bank the cue ball, bank the 8 ball, bank with a combo & multiple rail banks are also allowed. So long as at some point in the shot you have clearly banked the 8 ball or cue ball.
- If you forget that you are playing BT8/Q and win the game illegally, you will lose on DQ.
- Deliberately ignoring these rules to win some points on yahoo is lame, you won't win the game for your team, and may face a ban from GIT.
As previously stated, playing both wildcards at once is allowed. Just combine the rules from both. It's all common sense stuff.
Yahoo Pool Basics
- The cue ball MUST be moved on the break.
- If the 8 ball is made on break there MUST be a re-rack.
- If a Stripe and a Solid are both made on break you CANNOT take ball in hand.
- If a Stripe, a Solid and the Cue Ball are made on break, you may choose your ball type but then you MUST concede ball in hand without interferring with any other ball in the table.
- It is possible that this will freeze the game, in this circumstance, you MUST re-rack.
- If yahoo freezes in any way which makes play impossible (ie: no cue), you MUST re-rack (after a reasonable amount of time to see if the error will correct itself).
- Offering re-racks for an early 8 ball loss, is at the discretion of the winning player and no-one else.
- It is considered good sportsmanship to say GG & GL.
- Force Forfeits are not permitted at any time. Doing so will be an instant DQ.
Match Rules
- Every match during the regular season will be 5v5 format (no carry), involving 5 different players from each team.
- All tables must be both Rated and Protected.
- During the regular season, home league captains are required to host the table.
- Ideally, this will be the listed captain or co-captain, but GIT understands that on occasions, another member may be captain on that day.
- The home team pick which seat they would like.
- The away team nominate their player first each time.
- The home team then nominate their player.
The home team can decide at any point whether or not to use one of their wild cards, it could be more advantageous to decide after the players have been nominated. Once the game has started (once the rack is visible) it is too late to use a wildcard and the match will be Reg 8.
- If a player loses they MUST report the loss to league within 48 hours via the Report Loss link on site.
- Failing to report the loss will result in a strike against your name. You get one warning, but every subsequent failure is a one week ban.
- Once a match is complete, both Captains must report all games played within 48 hours via the Report Forum link on site.
- Report games as they happen, as this is necessary for many of the extra features of GIT (such as MVP).
- Every game must be Cammed and tapes sent to either the opposing team or an impartial admin, if a fault is found on the tape it MUST be sent to an admin before being DQ'd.
Coaching
- GIT allows Coaching.
- In an ideal world, we would prefer not to allow coaching, but as this activity can happen covertly (ie: telephone coaching), it feels futile banning it.
- What we DO NOT want to see is every shot being dictated by someone not in the players seat. So use coaching sparingly.
Timers
- Only the team captain or the competing player can request a timer.
- Please request timers in the lobby, only a GIT Admin can start a timer, and only a GIT Admin can DQ a player.
- Timers are: 7 Minutes in regular seasons & 10 Minutes in play-offs.
- If a team aren't in the lobby at 2pm, then they are subject to a timer. If two full timers expire with no contact from the team, then they are disqualified.
- If a player is idle, gets booted during a game or is not available after the captain has called them, a timer may be requested.
- If the game hasn't started, the Captain may select an alternate player who has not played.
- In this circumstance the home team maintain their home advantage, and may select a different player as well as reconsidering the use of their wild cards. (Meaning this rule cannot be used to claim any kind of advantage).
If the game has started (ie: the rack is visible) then substitutions are not allowed and the timer will commence as normal.
Play-Off Rules
- Home Captains will host the play-off tables, unless a referee is deemed necessary.
- All Play-Off matches prior to the final will be 7v7.
- You ARE allowed to field 7 seperate eligible players if you have them available.
- Obviously we do not expect you to find 2 extra players, so any 2 players can play twice.
- So you can play:
- Two players twice, and three players once.
- One player twice, and five players once.
- Or seven players once.
- The Play-Off Final will be 9v9.
- You ARE allowed to field 9 seperate eligible players if you have them available.
- Obviously we do not expect you to find 4 extra players, so any 4 players can play twice.
- So you can play:
- Four players twice, and one player once.
- Three Players twice, and three players once.
- Two players twice, and five players once.
- One player twice, and seven players once.
- Or nine players once.
- The same players are NOT allowed to play three times, attempting to do so will be a DQ.
- Please note: Your opening 4 games MUST be with different players. To remove the possiblity of 2 or 3 players winning a match on their own (this rule is different from season one).
- You may re-use either wildcard at your discretion during a play-off match (giving a total of 3 wildcards).
The 'Top 8' teams will qualify for the play-offs. In a standard tournament bracket.
- 1st Place vs 8th Place
- 2nd Place vs 7th Place
- 3rd Place vs 6th Place
- 4th Place vs 5th Place
The highest placed team will have 'home advantage' in every play-off round.
To be eligible for the play-offs, players must have completed 5 games during regular season (excluding DQ's). This number may be scaled down for teams joining late.
Camtasia Rules
- As stated earlier, every game MUST be cammed.
- Tapes MUST be sent to either the opposing team or an admin, if a fault is found on the tape it MUST be sent to an admin before being DQ'd.
- Tapes MUST be sent within 3 hours of completion of the game in question (not the overall match).
- Minimum camtasia requirements:
- You MUST capture the full screen including taskbar.
- The taskbar MUST be visible at all times.
- 'Hide inactive icons' and 'Group similar taskbar buttons' are unimportant.
- The time stamp MUST be visible and easy to read at all times.
- You CANNOT pause the recording.
- The game MUST be captured from before the break, until after the 8 ball has sunk.
- Failing to comply with these rules will result in a Tape DQ.
- If a tape is DQ'd, the opponents tape will be requested.
- If the opponents tape is valid, the result will be reversed.
- If the opponents tape is invalid, the original result will stand (depending on what the tape was DQ'd for).
- ie: If one tape is DQ'd because the break shot isn't captured, and the other is DQ'd because an aimer is clearly visible, common sense will prevail.
